The Donors

Community members are the backbone of the Friends undertakings. They believe investing in the library is important. The library makes information and entertainment available to all, and serves as an open clearinghouse for ideas. It emphasizes the importance of reliable reference material to an informed public.

Community support takes many shapes: direct donations in response to the annual appeal; buying books at the book sales or goodies at a bake sale; snapping up the cookbook (remember “From the Prince’s Pantry”?); or investing in T-shirts, tote bags, artworks, or other items the Friends have sold over the years.

To paraphrase a hippie question from the 60’s: What if they gave a book sale and nobody came? Every time the Friends have asked, community members have shown up, often beyond expectations. Residents of Cumberland, North Yarmouth and surrounding areas have demonstrated time and again that they value the library and all it represents. The Friends are enormously grateful for this community's consistent and generous support.
